moving back
it hit me yesterday – somewhere between looking at the calendar and realizing i have two weeks left and when my housemate handed me some moving boxes – that i’m really leaving the bay area and moving to the closest-place-to-heaven-on-earth
(i.e. sun diego!). *whoah* i’ll be seeing my sweetie in two weeks when we reunite there! whoo! not to mention my beloved family and friends. i’ve only been gone for a year, but it seems like i’ve lived a whole lifetime since then (maybe it has to do with being to china and back 3 times in the course of these1.5 yrs). what adventures i have had. and being home again won’t quite be home because everything is different now. it’ll be like stepping into an unknown known. my entire life is about to change… oh boy am i glad God goes with me and has already gone ahead before me. He’s the one who’s leading me home!
meanwhile…. i’m trying to sort through all my clothes and give away as much of it as possible. the goal is to return home with at least four boxes less than when i moved away. right now, my room looks like this:
and sentimental packrat that i am, i’ve been dragging around my high school P.E. clothes all these years. (and what’s really scary about that is that i’m about to have my ten-year high school reunion!) so i took a picture of the outfit… maybe it’s time to toss ‘em? what do you think?
another example of my sentimentality… two broken watches. the one on the left i bought in beijing – and yes, it broke before a year was up! (in fact, it broke while i was in the air flying to shanghai this past summer!) the ladybug watch was a gift from a friend which lasted quite a few years. it was so awesome cuz the wings opened to show the time!
(don’t worry, i chucked them once i took the picture)
the only box i’ve fully packed so far are my journals. there are probably six or seven missing from the “set”. i am currently on Journal #46 — yikes! can you believe it?
so… here’s a question… anybody making a roadtrip to the bay area wanna help me tote some of my stuff back to SD? official move date: oct 28th.

mt carmel!!
You chucked the watches?! Well, the Chinese one probably wasn’t all that; but the LADYBUG watch! Oh man, I would’ve tried to get that fixed, especially if it was a gift from a friend. Oh well… maybe that’s just me. I think I still have a sweater from Canyon View Elementary School. I left that school when we moved in late 1989.
hi!! you’re coming back.. coolness!
hey nick, believe me, i tried to fix the ladybug watch, but there were some things missing…
ooooh…don’t throw away those great P.E. clothes. those are the best. i used to wear mine around the house..but then i lost em. keep it!..use them as your pajamas. when will you be in sd? go mt. carmel!
yeah, i would say keep the p.e. clothes. clothes that comfortable & memorable should be kept as long as possible.. lady bug watch.. same thing as nick said. i’m glad you answered. and yes, besides writing A LOT you have the HUGEST handwriting ever!! ha ha ha. joyce gets three lines of text into one lined line in her journals. it takes AGES to get through hers.
