  • The invisible God

"The Son is the image of the invisible God..." Col 1:15

    This is a powerful statement.

    God is invisible.
This is something we all know.
But JESUS is the image of God.

Jesus makes God visible, tangible, knowable and understandable.

When we look at Jesus, we're able to see the One whom no one has ever been able to see or know before.

I can't get over how amazing that is.

  • Truly amazing.
I had to ponder this concept back when I wrote about whether or not God could be depicted in art. There are people who think that paintings or sculptures of Jesus constitute a violation of the Second Commandment. I think I ended up disagreeing with that.

  • @licoreen - Sounds like an interesting paper!  I think that I might agree w/you.   I guess it could be a problem if people worship a statue or picture of Jesus rather than HIM, right?  But if just for visual imagery, then not.
