Christmas 2008
has been fun.
Two weekends before Christmas, we hopped on a plane to go visit my in-laws. There, we encountered sleet and snow!
The buckets of water froze over! You just don't get sights like this in SD!
Here's a picture of me with Sam's family, minus my sister-in-law and her hubs.We had a very nice visit. We saw Shane & Shane live in concert, we saw my father-in-law's Christmas choir (it was Southern Baptist style huge), Sam's old friend from elementary school, an old friend of ours from CBE, and had some good fun just hanging out with the family.
When we got back home, we spent the night before Christmas eve wandering around Christmas Card Lane. Although it has been a time-honored tradition to visit CCL during Christmas, it felt so much more fun this year for some reason. It seemed like there were more houses decked out with lights and hundreds of people milling around. Two houses had extensive trains running, one house (pictured here) had a Santa & Mrs. Claus greeting people, someone was selling hot cocoa, and people just seemed happy that it was Christmas.
Christmas Eve was spent with my family - a warm and sweet time. I feel like you could almost sense the warmth from this picture.Check out this video of Joshie getting exactly what he wanted for Christmas. Isn't it the best video ever?
On Christmas Day, we went way East and hung out with all my relatives for the whole day. Here's a picture of my paternal grandparents with some of my cousins.
Two days after Christmas, we had our annual hot pot party. We were actually able to fit 20 people into our tiny little living room! We had a blast re-connecting with our old friends.
and best of all, this year, instead of doing a gift-exchange, we all pitched in some money and were able to buy 2 goats and 2 chickens for an impoverished family somewhere in the world. Thanks to World Vision, we were able to GIVE a needed means for sustenance...rather than just receiving a little material something for ourselves that we probably didn't need anyway. This is exactly how I want to spend my money!Hope you had a great Christmas, my xanga reader! Many blessings to you in 2009!
