  • When was the last time I

I was standing in the middle of the parking lot, catching my breath after having run for awhile, when I noticed an aberration in the scene.  Diagonal lines descending from the sky.  Was it really –?  I ran over to where I had just been looking and felt it — a few wet touches.  I ran to the end of the parking lot and back again, and then I waited.  A few moments later, I heard the loud tinkering and clinkering of rain drops that I had been waiting for.  I stood there and let the rain fall sweetly on my face.  When was the last time I stood in the rain and just enjoyed it?  Instead of running quickly from the house to the car to my destination trying desperately not to get wet!  I stood there, looking like a fool, and just enjoyed it.

And then I started to run.  I jogged to the end of the parking lot.  Once I hit the sidewalk of the street, I burst into a sprint and ran as hard as I could.  It felt good to bear down that block with such intensity.  The rain was coming down harder, but the sidewalk was only covered in blotches so it wasn’t too slippery yet.  When I rounded the corner, I stopped to look up at the sky again.  Glorious!  A few more steps and then I spotted it.  A rainbow was grandly being displayed exactly where I looked.  Almost the full arch, with only a small part covered by a cumulonimbus cloud.  What could be more magnificent?  I couldn’t have asked the Lord of heaven for a more glorious run the day before Thanksgiving.  So much to be thankful for.

  • mmm.
I stood in the rain right outside my dorm building last night doing the same thing. :)

  • The real miracle of living in Southern California that my friend pointed out to me was that God was so pleased with his work in here that He would actually schedule most of the rains to happen at night while we’re all asleep so that the land could get what it needed and we could have another beautiful socal day when we woke up

  • @DaDaLanChong - haha. that’s brilliant! and so true.

  • The last time I stood in the rain and just enjoyed it? Do you remember back in the early nineties when, after six years of drought, it would just pour and pour? I had to walk home to and from school back in those days. Fun times.
