  • Everything’s made to be broken

I woke up the other morning with my radio singing the words “when everything’s made to be broken,” and I started thinking, “Oh yeah, it’s true!”  We had just watched a video recently called The Story of Stuff, and it spoke of the waste that humanity creates and how that was a result of a deliberate decision made by greedy businesspeople.  One of their methods to make more money (and therefore cause more waste) is to make products that are meant to be broken (so that we would buy more stuff).  [You should watch the video.]

    Everything’s made to be broken!

Except for hearts.  I don’t think God made hearts to be broken.  He wants hearts to be whole, and He’s done all He has in order to make hearts whole.

Whenever I watch the news, movies or read books, I feel keenly the heart-rending predicaments that people must face.  There are so many heartbreaking realities in this sad, sad sinful world.  God’s ideal was never for children to be without parents, for spouses to cheat on each other, for poverty, oppression, inequality or injustice.  That was just not His desire or design.  I’m sad for broken hearts.

  • good stuff! thanks for sharing.

  • I love reading your thoughts, and hearing what you are experiencing, learning, and thinking!  I forgot my Xanga password, so I haven’t been commenting lately, but I still appreciate your words.

  • I agree that hearts shouldn’t be broken!  The other night I watched the specials about the “tree man” from indonesia and it just made me anguished to see how some people suffer.
