There’s something about rain
It’s drizzling outside — the precursor to a terrible storm, we hear. There might be flooding and landslides this weekend. Not sure. But it’s so beautiful right now. Something about the idea of being ‘stuck’ in our house because of the rain. Maybe because it reminds me of rainy schooldays when the teachers would decide to throw the lesson plan out the window and let us play fun games together. Or the thunderous nights of my childhood when the electricity would go out and my sister and I would have to come up with something really creative to bide the time. There’s just something so hot cocoa delicious about the idea of rain. We can’t go out, so we have to think of something to do together. Read the dozens of books I have spread out on our coffee table. Finish Season 6 of the Gilmore Girls. Watch a movie. Play Nertz. Snuggle under blankets. All of the above. Can’t wait for our ‘rainy’ day Saturday.

i totally feel the same way about rain, err well sorta.. Sometimes storms are scary.. But the confining feeling does have a nice feeling, like you have an “excuse” to just relax and do something fun, because you “can’t” go out and do other stuff.
(it’s stormy up here too)
Yeah, maybe the rain is just an excuse to do something fun. On Saturday, I got to do most of the things on my list… but it was somehow a little less fun because it didn’t end up raining that hard and we had to resort to imagining that we really were ‘rained in’. Oh well.
