I spent the first half of my Christian journey relying desperately on the Holy Spirit and God's power because I felt so unqualified and was so untrained in everything and then the second half relying on the skills and the training that I had picked up from the first half. The first half was filled with powerful, life-changing miracles but the second half fell flat in comparison. So after these last few years of general unfruitfulness, I'm beginning to learn again how to be desperate for the Holy Spirit to come down in power and to believe that He really does do that. I need Him! If anything real is ever gonna happen, it must come from Him. It's not gonna come from my formulas or my methods. It's gonna come from Him.

i feel you sista.
this is what ive been learning in class:
the legalist and the christian share the same standards, yet the legalist says "I can make the standard on my own and when i do, God owes me" and if they don't make it, they are crushed by the failure.
The christian says "I am weak, I can't make the standard at all. But, if I go to the Father and ask for help via the Holy Spirit and rely on Jesus' crucified and risen life in me, I can surely make the standard" and when they do, only gratitude remains.
what a deal!
love ya

wow, interesting. i read somewhere that moses spent the 1st 1/3 of his life learning what it was like to be without God. then, his 2nd 1/3 learning to be what it is like to be with God. then his final 1/3 leading people to be with God.
