I love being married to Sam.  It's only been about 2.5 months, and yet it has seemed like forever -- like we've always been married.  It's so natural ~ this living together, this sharing of everything, this continual mingling of thoughts and emotions and ideas -- this oneness in communion in harmonious equality just as the Father has with the Son and the Spirit (no hierarchy).  It is a beautiful reality.  We are tasting daily the proverbial "iron sharpens iron" in living color as we continue to journey together in seeking out the Truth so that we might abide in it.  The last 2.5 months have meant new discoveries, new illuminations, new enlightenments, and even new paradigm shifts from age-old traditions and thoughts to a different kind of worldview

    And we have fun together.

A couple of weekends ago, we got a special deal and found ourselves spontaneously at Disneyland!  -- where not only did we get to take pictures with Buzz Lightyear and Mickey Mouse, but we also had some personal encounters with both!  (Buzz approached me while I was laying down to quell my nausea from Space Mountain and tapped me on the shoulder just to say hi, and Mickey gave me a kiss!!)

This past Sunday, Mom told us about a sale on fresh live crabs, so we got ourselves two large crabs, put them in our sink... and then went to look at tide pools at LJ shores, where we saw a real, live octopus!  (no joke!  it was hiding under a rock!)  We even got to see it whip out its tentacle to eat a live mussel.  :)   And then after looking at enough hermit crabs, we decided it was time to get home and eat our own crabs!

On the previous day, Sam watched Mom cut up a coconut and decided that he wanted to try his hand at it -- so suddenly, we had ourselves a new obsession:  fresh coconuts!

Here are pictures of Sam going crazy with the coconuts.... and me calmly carving out the 'meat' of the coconut. :)

Marriage means partnership, and we note over and over again how wonderfully everything works when we share the load and do things together (as in the breaking of this coconut).  It's faster, more efficient and more fun.  What we are learning, of course, is a timeless truth that all happily marrieds would attest to.  And it is, no doubt, only a faint echo of the eternal, blissful communion of Father, Son and Spirit.

  • so cute! :) ahhah i keep writing the same thing on yours and sam's xangas. but it's so true!

  • thank you for making me look forward to marriage again.

  • been considering the idea of partnership a lot too... hope to chat more soon.

and dude, mickey gave you a kiss in front of sam? i didnt' realize he was so bold.

  • i'm glad you guys are enjoying marriage! and i'm really glad that you and sam (though i've never heard his perspective) both share the same view on headship/marriage,etc.. As another happily married, i can attest that keeping jesus as our first love is definitely the key, regardless of view on marriage roles. but despite preato's pro-egalitarian claims in his article, graydon & i are currently surrounded by many married couples holding the complementarian view who are thriving end enjoying marriage more than ever. one of which i know you and i highly respect- larry and brenda. what wonderful role models the are of allowing jesus to shine through their marriage!

  • y'all are really cute together!

    crabs are yummy...mmmmm...
