Joshua is such a crybaby!
Every night, he goes through at least 2 or 3 crying, wailing episodes.
This is the look he always gets when he doesn’t get what he wants.
When he falls (which happens often), he works himself into a frenzy — even though we’re pretty sure, it didn’t hurt that much…
We know it didn’t hurt because he’ll pout and look for Grandma, Grandpa, Mommy or Auntie or anybody — somebody — to hold him and coddle him, feel sorry for him and show him some sympathy…and then he’ll stop!
C’mon, doesn’t somebody love me???
We don’t always give Joshua what he wants because it’s not the right time for it or because it’s not good for him. But he cries and wails like we’ve deprived him of life and breath. It’s kinda funny watching him sometimes. He really acts like it’s the end of the world. Half the time, we just humor him. And of course, we do pick him up and love on him in the end…
The other night after two wailing episodes, I couldn’t help but think about how often I act like Joshua. When I don’t get what I want when I want it the way I want it, I often throw similar tantrums. Nobody loves me! Booooo!!!! And worse yet, when I fall a little, I often act like I’ve had my leg ripped off — when there wasn’t even a scratch! God must be chuckling at me a little sometimes too. And just like us, He picks me up eventually and coddles me and reassures me that He loves me. Which is great! But, nonetheless, I know that in maturity, I need to throw less tantrums.
Here is Joshua in one of his cooler, more sophisticated moments…
May we be more like this than like the other!
