In the Word…
Before I went to sleep last night, I reviewed the verses I have been memorizing and meditating on most recently:
Psalm 27
Psalm 73:25-26
Isaiah 26:3-4
2 Chronicles 7:14
And I prayed for my parents’ salvation, claiming:
John 16:24
John 15:7
1 John 5:14-15
This morning before I woke up out of my slumber, the Genesis passage was impressed on my mind, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” and the words, “good” vs. “very good” also came to mind. The repetition of the words woke me up. (Awesome, isn’t it? To be woken up to God’s words??)
So I looked up the passage: When God made all the things on the earth, He said that it was good. When He made man, He said that he was “very good” (why? is it simply because he was made in the Lord’s image?)… But the only thing that was not good was that the man was alone. That was the only thing “not good.” The rest of that verse (Gen 2:18) says, “I will make a helper suitable for him.” Who does the making? Who does the matchmaking? It is the Lord of the universe, that’s who.
Lord, will you be the one to make me suitable for your man for me?
In the NASB version, the footnote says that “suitable” is the same as “corresponding.” That means… God has already made my gifts and personality a certain way so that it would correspond to some other one. I don’t have to “do” anything. God does all the “doing”, the forming and the making and the molding. Hey, isn’t that awesome?
Lord, I pray that you help me be in the right place at the right time doing the right thing following you in loving obedience. That’s all I have to pray for, isn’t it? If I am so much so in His will, then I won’t “miss” anything.

hi, i randomly stumbled onto your xanga =) my parents are nonchristian too and i have been praying for them for many years. however, with being so busy with life i often forget to pray for their salvation, which is ultimately one of the most important things to me.
so, thanks for the reminder. =) God is faithful and I do believe He will save both our parents! =)
