Thanksgiving Special
This Thanksgiving is special because I’m home for the holidays. While I’ve been out of college and living away from home for a few years now, this is in fact the first time I’ve come home for the holidays. Sort of a different feeling.
Coming home from the airport, I realized that most people who get off the plane to “go home” reclaim more than the baggage from the airport. Coming home means reclaiming all sorts of other baggage that have been swept under the rug while they’ve been away from their tense home environment – quite a bit of escapism goes on in America.
For myself, there was quite a few waves of nostalgia ~ some good, some bad – but the sum total of it all was good. I guess all is good when you get to see how God has weaved His love through the fabric of your life and made so much purpose out of all the joys and trials of growing up. I give God praise and thanks for the lovingkindness and faithfulness He has shown to our family. What a privilege to belong to Him!
Per my request, this year for Thanksgiving, we had an “All-Vietnamese” meal. You guessed it: Pho.
Most of my time has been spent playing with Joshua. But I’ve also watched The Terminal and finally finished reading The Cambridge Seven (you can read my reviews by clicking on the link at the upper left hand corner which says “my reviews“).
Tomorrow night is the much-anticipated reunion of good, old friends. It’s good to be home.
