Up til friday night, i hadn’t watched any tv or movies for over a month, maybe two or three. friday night i watched “saved” (mandy moore) — ugh, by the way — and then tonite i saw “shallow hal” as well as a few clips from random movies on tv. so basically, ever since friday night, my thought life has taken a noticeable dive. now that i have something to compare it to, i can verify quite honestly that if you don’t watch any tv or movies with raunchy scenes and sexual innuendos, you really can keep your thought life really pure.
And now comes the battle of the flesh and the mind. Arg. I wish I hadn’t fed myself that junk!
Lord, please help me erase and forget those images and scenes and words… Wash them out. I want to be pure before you – especially as I go into your House to worship.

that’s funny sis, i saw saved the other night and it didn’t sit too well for me either. it took a couple days to get rid of the ickiness…
hope you’re well, i’m trying to get some video clips of your nephew to you…
man…i’ve totally noticed that same thing. when i’m not watching tv/movies, my mind just feels cleaner, with more room for God’s truths to be planted. but then once those images get in there, it’s so much more difficult to think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, etc.

i hear you on the whole fasting from media thing. i have really had an easier time w/the whole mental battle (like almost non-existent problems) b/c i am so sequestered here.
saw a few minutes of football yesterday on tv and was mesmerized by commercials. (esp. a hysterical one of a gal adjusting her contact in the men’s room.)
don’t miss it -tv- in general though.
ooh..PDalon was just talking about Saved yesterday..i don’t think i’ll be watching that:) TV messes with your mind…for sure.
now this makes me want to know what saved is about – is it at all about saved as in faith? ok i’m gonna look up a movie review
