Ok, I got a question for you since your secret indulgence is grammar and stuff. Daniel and I were arguing about the correct usage of ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ answer in relation to the question. I’ve always thought that in English, you always answer Yes or No in its absolute term, but not relative to the questions. For example, if someone ask you, “oh, so you haven’t gotten a chance to work on that yet? “…My answer would be, No, I haven’t. But Daniel said that you can answer Yes, I haven’t and it’ll still be grammatically correct. I know that in Chinese, you always answer yes or no relative to the question, and that’s why a lot of chinese parents got it all mixed up and eventually pass that onto the kids. So what do you think?
nevermind, I found the answer

kanfood, what a cool link. i grew up agreeing with you, cuz my mom was a grammar queen in Taiwan, but i never learned that in school here! so i just had to trust her, but it is nice to see hardcore grammatical confirmation!
