  • Choose Your Own Adventure

Before I became a Christian, I thought Christianity was all about going to church on Sundays and trying to be "good" the rest of the time.  I thought it was one religion among many.  I thought they were all the same.  Rules, laws, regulations that would be "good" for you - and that's the full extent of what having a belief-system was for.  I had no clue how off I was!

Ever since I met Jesus, I have been overwhelmed with surprise.  Forget long-faced religion, forget drab traditions that are followed without anyone knowing why.  No, no, no... following Jesus - I mean, really taking Him at His Word is the most risky, nontraditional, eyebrow-raising adventure that you could ever go on!  Christianity to me, since I've known Jesus, has always been a great adventure... and that's because of choices I have made.

So here's the thing:  Will you take Jesus seriously or pass over Jesus as just too serious?  Will you take risks in obedience to Him or merely follow forms and traditions?  Will you choose Discipleship or Religion?  Excitement or Monotony?  God's given you an option.  You get to Choose Your Own Adventure.  Adventures are costly but worth it.  What will you choose?

That's what I'm talking about at NavNite tonight.  So come if you happen to be in SD.  UCSD:  Peterson 102.  7pm.

  • i'm so excited you don't even know!  :)

ps. we prayed for you last night

  • awesome post mary ann! i am being convicted of the choices i make too.  All glory tonight when you speak to the brothers and sisters there!  Blessings upon blessings - The theme of our lives.

  • "Forget long-faced religion" by chance was steven curtis chapman in mind for that?

  • i will say, it's encouraging to see someone who is living with purpose in the will of God and not stepping to the beat of others' expectations including that of the navigators at ucsd, parents, friends, co-workers, leaders at church, etc. choosing to be a disciple is really an adventure... there's so much life out there waiting to be lived among so many sheep who are helpless and harrassed without a shepherd. may God meet (supply--Himself and His gifts) all your needs according to his riches in glory by christ jesus and as you're set to live a life pleasing to him. thanks for the chocolate, for picking up a few verse packs... i will keep my eye out for more if you ever have the need.

  • Awesome, Mary Ann!  I hope you're feeling better. I miss talking to you, I'll call you up soon.
