  • Everything I've Ever Wanted to Do

At age 15, John Goddard made a list of all the things he wanted to do in his lifetime.  He came up with a list of 127 items.  Some things on his list were becoming an Eagle Scout, learning to type 50 wpm, reading the entire  Encyclopedia, climbing Mt. Everest, visiting every country in the world, going to the moon.  By age 47, he had accomplished 103 of 127 items.  Goddard had made this list from hearing older people say, "If only I had done this or that when I was younger."  He knew that too many people miss all the fun, excitement and thrills of life simply because they did not plan ahead.

Reading this information (for work!) has inspired me.  If I were to write a list of "Everything I've Ever Wanted to Do", what would be on my list?  What would be on yours?  (Candy, is this in your List Book?)  Ok, I'm gonna start a list today, and I'll post it sometime this week.

  • of course it's in my list book! :D

  • That's a good question. Hrm... I need to think about that, but somehow I don't think my list would include things like visiting all the countries of the world, climbing Mt. Everest, or going to the Moon. I like Goddard's #110, 111, 113, and 126.

  • yeah mree, I know this isn't related to your blog but I'm really excited to see you at the wedding this weekend! I miss you and I'm thinking about you!

  • whoa i can't remember who was also thinking of doing this... hrm... someone i talked to...

i'm gonna try to give you a call soon mary ann! :)

  • I have a list like this. It's real short. Don't laugh.

    1) Get married and have a happy family
    2) Do something meaningful with my life
    3) Lose weight until I reach 132.5 lbs (achieved).

Yes, the last one is random. One day while talking to a friend, I realized I didn't have many goals. I thought that might contribute to my lack of a sense of accomplishment, so I decided to pick a random, concrete and achievable goal. That's what I ended up picking, and reached it after a few months. Yay.

  • Hrm... Gilbert, I think the things on this list are supposed to be attainable & measurable. #2 is sorta vague, eh?

  • Yeah, you can see then how when I only had the first two why I had so little sense of accomplishment in my life. At least I've done 33% now!! I guess I have a 33% completion rating so far.
