  • An inheritance - something passed on to you, usually of great value, of indescribale riches; something you would gladly receive, delight in and boast of.

Psalm 2:8, “Ask of Me and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.”

Lord Jesus, I pray that you would give me a man who would consider the nations as an inheritance.  A man whose  heart and passion is for the lost and unreached people groups.  His desire would be for them to come before you in joyous, intimate worship.

Because that is the CRY of my heart.

  • Ummm…Mary Ann, the Psalm 2 passage is never to be interpreted as something to b applied to any person. It is in referance to the Anointed One (aka Messiah, aka King)–> Jesus.

The Suzerian-King has sent a man that is all about Psalm 2 to all of us, the Vassal-King Jesus. :)

I figured you may not mind the correction of the exegete.  I had to write a paper on it.

(don’t sing that Ask of Me and I will give you nations song…)

    For the King,

    Josh

  • Thanks for the thoughts, Josh.

I guess when I think of this song, I think of Gal 3:8:  “The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham:  ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’”  God is concerned about all the nations – and intended from the very beginning that all the nations would bow in worship.  We can pray for the nations. see their coming to Him as a prize, a goal to which we orient our lives.  And He will answer these prayers — for it is the desire of His heart.  For every knee to bow – that thought originated with Him. :)

When thinking of Psalm 2:8 — Obviously, these souls will not ACTUALLY belong to us.  We don’t MAKE disciples; disciples don’t become ours; they are always ultimately God’s.  But we can ask that nations will come… and be Jesus’.
