  • I had a very vivid dream last night.  It was a dramatic moment when this man reached for my hand, squeezed it and held it.  I put my hand on top of his.  We were communicating our commitment to one another at that moment.  Something very comforting about such a connection.

I think I dreamed about this because of a passage I had read yesterday.  Isaiah 42:5-7.  I'll just quote v. 6, "I, the Lord, have called you in rightesouness; I will take hold of your hand."

Hand-holding has always meant commitment to me.  You only hold someone's hand when you want to say to the world, "Look, this girl is mine, i love her, i respect her, i'm proud to be the other person at the end of this hand, i cherish her, i'm committed to her..."

Ah yes, the God of the universe says that He will take hold of my hand - and with that, He is saying all of the above... is that not wondrous love?

  • i totally agree with you.  holding hands speaks volume of your committment to the other person so much more than...well, kissing.  Kissing can happen at the spur of the moment, while holding hands takes a concious decision.  And the consequence?  People will immediately associate you with the other person!  My mom always told me not to hold hands with a guy unless I'm absolutely sure that I don't want to be with someone else cuz all the guys will back off when they see you holding hands with a dude.  haha...

But yeah, the knowledge of The Lord will take hold of my hand is indeed wonderful.  More wonderful than any kind of love men can offer.
