hanging out at the well. (Exodus 2:11-25)
This is such a side thing to the main storyline, but I find it interesting that this is not the first time a man and woman met at a well, and the man helped the woman water the flock and then they end up married. Makes me think I should hang out near a well! – just kidding!
But more seriously, what is the “well” of the Christian journey? Of course, it is Jesus. Jesus is the source of living water. When we drink of Him, we will be satisfied and never thirst (John 4 & 7). That’s the key to everything. [selah]
I don’t want to cheapen the sweetness of this truth… but I want to add that if we keep close to Jesus and keep doing what we are supposed to be doing, then also what’s supposed to happen will happen. Whether it be a man who will help defend me against enemies and help me do what I’m supposed to do (and vice versa of course!) (like Moses fighting off the shepherds so that the ladies could water their flock) resulting in marriage or getting a clear answer to my life-assignment or whatever! I need to keep doing what I’m supposed to be doing and God will make happen what’s supposed to happen. I don’t need to contrive, fabricate or maneuver things. I just need to trust and follow Jesus.
Larry told me previously to just keep close to Jesus. That’s what I want to do. I need to keep focused on what I’m called to at this moment in time – and let God unfold His master plan. The answer always seems to be “intimacy with Jesus.” =)

so true, mary ann
once again, thanks for sharing!
Such a true statement (and beautiful interpretation of an aside that most of us would gloss over in reading): “I don’t need to contrive, fabricate, or maneuver things. I just need to trust and follow Jesus.” We should talk sometime. Blessings, Mary Ann.
super cool and something i need to add to my requests for accountability!
i love how the Lord love flows forth like an artesian well from you

wow. i never thought about it that way before. but seriously, as another well-marriage example — the samaritan woman was hanging out at the well, and ends up meeting The Ultimate Bridegroom. how cool is that??
